It’s another massive week for football and after the madness of the mid-week Champions League, good news…the Premier League is back. The even better news for anyone reading this is that Betto is back! Fresh from last week’s success he is feeling pretty confident, he got 6 out of 8 spot on last week – so the message is be selective and Betto’s advice can get you more cash than is in the Royal Family’s vault. The bad news is the season is nearing its end and that means less opportunities to improve our income. Let’s see what the man himself has to say and hope for a good day at the races.
Blackburn v Bolton
3pm Kick Off
Live from Ewood Park
Wow, I know what you are thinking, this game is going to be a cracker! Well it is. Blackburn are hovering just above the relegation zone and anything short of a win could see this massive club drop in to the relegation zone if results go against them. But it is not a bad time to play Bolton, they have been a little unsteady over the past few games, having lost 4 of their last 6. Blackburn’s form is a little bit worse though, not having won in their last 6 games, collecting only 3 points. Let’s have a look at the team news:
Blackburn Team News: Nzonzi is back. Hoilett and Santa Cruz are doubts. Dunn, Grella and Nelson are all out.
Bolton Team News: Mark Davies, Steinsson and Daniel Sturridge are both doubts. Davis, Holden, and Ricketts are deffo out.
Betto: This is a tough call, usually this season I would easily say Bolton would have it up against Blackburn. The boys from Ewood have been awful this season and Bolton are doing well. But since losing Holden and with Sturridge coming in and out of the team, they seem more vulnerable. Blackburn need a win and they have to win sometime…and this is a East Lancs derby. Blackburn win, it’s crazy, but this is football.
Blackpool v Stoke
3pm Kick Off
Live from Bloomfield Road
Blackpool’s fourth game in a row and with only one point from their previous three games in front of the home crowd, they will be desperate to deliver a win. Stoke cruised to victory against Wolves and are still riding the wave of confidence following the FA Cup Semi win…but can the run continue? This one could come down to who wins the midfield battle, so let’s check the team news and see who’s in and who’s out.
Blackpool Team News: No fresh injury worries, should have a full squad with Crainey the only doubt.
Stoke Team News: Etherington, Fuller, Sidibe, and Higginbotham all out.
Betto says: We are getting to that stage of the season where everything matters, the pressure is on. If you look at this on paper, again you would think surely a Stoke win. With Etherington injured it could upset the way Stoke play. If Blackpool lose this they look destined for relegation, but I don’t think they will…DRAW!
Sunderland v Fulham
3pm Kick Off
Live from The Stadium of Light
Two sides who some would say have little left to play for this season, but there is always something to play for…pride. Only a point separate these two teams and points mean prize money so both teams should want this. Betto was right last week, Sunderland had to win one, but Fulham are coming of the back of a 3-0 thrashing of Bolton and will be confident. Sunderland have only taken 4 points from a possible 18 over the last 6 games compared to Fulham’s 10 points. All to play for but could be a shocker.
Sunderland Team News: Basically everyone is near dead…Ferdinand, Mensah, and Richardson doubtful. Bramble, Campbell, Gordon, Meyler, Noble, Welbeck, and Gyan are all out.
Fulham Team News: The only doubt is Duff.
Betto: Looking at the team news, things don’t look too good for Sunderland, half the squad are out and they have no fit striker. Fulham have been playing well lately and with no injury concerns, look favourites. Best hope for Sunderland is a battling bore draw, so will go Fulham win, but draw as back up.
West Brom v Villa
3pm Kick Off
Live from Baggie land
Birmingham derby time, this will be an interesting affair as the Baggies and Villians battle it out for the bragging rights over the bank holiday weekend. Villa come in to this game with no manager…but they are unbeaten in four. West Brom won’t be too concerned with Villa’s form since they have taken 11 points out of a possible 18 in over their last 6 games. A Midlands derby is usually an unpredictable affair, let’s check the team news and Betto.
West Brom Team News: Brunt is a major doubt for the Baggies and this is surely a hammer blow if their captain can’t play. Cech is also a doubt, but thank god Scott Carson has recovered from a minor problem. Dorrans, Reid, and Thomas are all out.
Aston Villa Team News: None, boring…oh Bannan has been recalled from his loan, still boring.
Betto: Tough call on this one, I don’t want to go on as no one likes to predict a derby. Draw.
Wigan v Everton
3pm Kick Off
Live from the DW
Everton come in to this game off the back of a 1-0 loss to United, but that is their only loss in the last 6 games. Wigan have been playing well of late, but in their previous match ended up losing 4-2 to Sunderland. Wigan currently sit third from bottom and are desperate for points to avoid relegation, out of the teams down in the scrap Wigan look to have the fight.
Wigan Team News: Pollitt only injury.
Everton Team News: Arteta, Baxter, Heitinga, and Cahill all doubts, Barkley, Fellaini, and Saha all out.
Betto: This one down to the team news again, Everton could be very short without some key men, when you mix this with Wigan desperation for points and want to win, we could have a game on our hands. That was called a semi-equation…but this is a fact, Wigan win…hopefully.
Chelsea v Tottenham
5.30pm Kick Off
Live on Sky Sports 2
Our third derby of the day and they don’t come much bigger than this, two London rivals who both have a lot to lose. A loss for Chelsea and it will look like they are out of the title race. A loss for Spurs and they surrender Champions League football and could also concede fifth spot to Liverpool after the Reds recent form has closed the gap to three points. Chelsea have won their last 3 games, scoring 9 goals and conceding only 2. Spurs have only won once in the last 6 and their record at Stamford Bridge is woeful, Chelsea have won 14 in the last 20 against Spurs at the Bridge, the other 6 meetings all resulting in draws.
Chelsea Team News: Clean bill of health for the Chelsea boys.
Spurs Team News: Corluka, King, Huddlestone, and Woodgate all doubts. Assou-Ekotto, Hutton, Palacios, and Khumalo all out.
Betto: Spurs seem to be suffering from more than a few injuries and with a clean bill of health for Chelsea, plus the added factors that they are in form and have a good team spirit, they should be too much for Spurs. Chelsea looks the obvious choice for a win so make that your bet, but don’t rule Spurs out. Season buster for both this could be a cagey affair, let’s hope it isn’t.
