With the January transfer window just around the corner, the next couple of weeks could be crucial for your fantasy teams, so here’s a list of four players you should include in your team ahead of this weekend…
1) Jussi Jaaskelainen
West Ham haven’t enjoyed the best of forms in recent weeks, as the lack of a striker capable to scoring more than Carlton Cole has cause all sorts of troubles for Big Sam.
The Hammers might be only clear of the relegation zone on goal difference, but selecting £5.5m-man Jaaskelainen isn’t as daft as it sounds, given that Sunderland, tomorrow’s visitors at Upton Park, have scored the grand total of two goals in seven away games this season.
Jaaskelainen is the league’s joint-third keeper in terms of points scored and he could be a good bet ahead of the weekend.
2) John Terry
Like him or loathe him, only two defenders have scored more points than JT this season and, at £6.6m, the Chelsea captain represents excellent value for money, particularly given that Chelsea host Palace tomorrow.
The Eagles have scored just three goals away from home this season, while Chelsea are still unbeaten at home and look poised to extend their run, as they seek to close the gap between them and Arsenal.
Furthermore, Marouane Chamakh has scored in two consecutive games, surely it’s time for his usual self to resurface yet again?
3) Leroy Fer
With three goals, one assist and 27 points in the last five games, Fer has been pivotal in Norwich’s mini revival that has seen the Canaries laboriously pulling themselves clear of the relegation zone.
The Dutchman costs only £5.9m, a very reasonable price-tag considering he ranks sixth among the most in-form midfielders in the league, and with Norwich hosting Swansea on Sunday, he could bag himself a few points yet again.
4) Gerard Deulofeu
With two goals in the last three games, the Spaniard has rose to prominence in recent weeks, as Everton followed a win at Old Trafford with a solid draw at the Emirates.
The Barcelona loanee has turned out be an extremely shrewd piece of business by Roberto Martinez, one that hasn’t been replicated by the majority of fantasy managers, given that Deulofeu has been selected only by 1% of managers.
The Toffees host a Fulham side still deciding whether they’re on the way up or not and splashing £5.4m on the Spaniard could be a huge coup for your fantasy team.
